KARACHI: Bank robbed; 74 deprived of vehicles, cellphones

KARACHI, Dec 2: Six armed men stormed into a bank in Federal B Area and made off with Rs6 million, the bank guard and his official repeater gun on Saturday morning.

Police said that six armed men in the morning raided a bank at Yusuf Plaza, and took the guard and staff at gunpoint. They looted the cash and fled. They also whisked away the bank guard with his repeater gun. The bank manager lodged an FIR with the police.

Seventy-four people were deprived of their cars, motorcycles, or cellphones in various localities here on Saturday.

Police sources said that 19 vehicles – eight cars and 11 motorcycles– were either hijacked or stolen in different areas. One car was hijacked and seven others stolen while six motorcycles were snatched at gunpoint and five others stolen.

They said that 55 people were deprived of their cellphones. Twenty-four people reported that they were intercepted by bandits at gunpoint and robbed of their cellphones, cash and belongings. Thirty-one other reported that their mobile phones were stolen.
