Inzamam delighted with Shabbir’s clearance

KARACHI, Dec 1: Pakistan captain Inzamam-ul-Haq on Friday expressed his delight over the positive outcome on banned pacer Shabbir Ahmed’s bowling action case and hoped that a timely comeback of the lanky fast bowler will boost Pakistan's pace attack.

“I am happy to hear that Shabbir's action is improving and his comeback will definitely boost the badly-hit pace attack of the team,” Inzamam told reporters at the National Stadium.

Shabbir, who was slapped with a one-year ban from the International Cricket Council (ICC) after being reported twice for illegal bowling action last year was recently given all clear on his action by the biomechanical experts at University of Western Australia. He is expected to make a comeback to the Pakistan side when his ban expires on December 18.

Inzamam, however, said Shabbir will have to work hard in domestic matches to earn his place in the side. “One year away from cricket is a long time and he (Shabbir) requires to do a lot of hard work in domestic cricket to get his place back in the side”. —Agencies
