MULTAN, Dec 1: Punjab PPP President Shah Mahmood Qureshi slapped an SHO for beating a party activist in Khanewal on Friday. Shah Mahmood Qureshi was addressing a public meeting at Wattowali Chaal, some 10km from Khanewal, when he found Katcha Khoh SHO Malik Rasheed beating a party worker for raising slogans, an eyewitness told this correspondent.

Seeing this, Mr Qureshi left his vehicle and slapped the SHO. Other party workers also started beating policemen, and the police was forced to escape from the scene.

Later, Shah Mahmood Qureshi said they would punish all those who dare to beat any party worker.

When contacted, Khanewal DPO Shahid Haneef said Mr Qureshi had not slapped any police officer. He said the police had stopped the procession because the party had not got any permission for this purpose.
