KARACHI, Dec 1: Police in pre-dawn raids at two workshops in SITE arrested four suspects of an inter-provincial gang and recovered five vehicles from their possession.
Addressing a press conference on Friday at his office, Anti-Car Lifting Cell chief SSP Muzaffar Shaikh said Abdul Shakoor, Zafar Ali, Abdullah and Ghulam Sadiq were allegedly involved in snatching, theft and transporting of vehicles to Balochistan. They were also charged with tampering engine and chassis numbers and changing appearance of vehicles.
Police got a tip-off that the gang members had rented out two separate workshops in Metroville SITE where they tampered chassis and engine numbers of stolen vehicles to transport them to Turbat in Balochistan.
SHO ACLC Police Station Ghazanfar Kazmi was assigned the task to arrest the gang, who detected and raided the workshops in Sectors 4 and 5 of Metroville. Four suspects were arrested and stolen vehicles (Suzuki Mehran AGV-563, Suzuki Khyber AB-1435, Charade K-2664 and Mazda Van U-4509), a TT pistol, 12 registration plates original, Rs510,000 million cash, 12 CNG kits and cylinders, fake NOC, registration books and number plates were recovered.
Muzaffar Shaikh said the gang had sold out a large number of vehicles in Turbat and in its vicinity after tampering their engine and chassis numbers.
