KARACHI: Distorted history being taught, says Altaf

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, Nov 30: Muttahida Qaumi Movement’ chief Altaf Hussain has complained that the nation was being taught a distorted and disfigured history in which villains are being portrayed as heroes and vice versa.

During speeches at "fikree nishast" which he has been holding for party workers of different localities for the past two weeks, Mr Hussain advised historians to sift fiction from facts for the sake of posterity.

During a couple of such sittings in last 24 hours at Landhi, Burnes Road, Korangi, PECHS, North Nazimabad etc, the MQM leader said Mahmood Ghaznavi smashed Hindu temples during conquests for the sake of tons of gold which was no service to Islam.

He said some genuine front rank leaders of Pakistan movement, like Maulana Hasrat Mohani, Liaquat Ali Khan, Maulana Mohammad Ali Jauhar, Maulana Shaukat Ali, Raja Saheb Mahmoodabad,, Sardar Abdur Rab Nishtar, Chaudhri Khaliquzzaman, Sir Syed Ahmad Khan, had been relegated to a secondary position.

Mr Hussain said many of the Pakistan movement personalities were still alive, but were afraid of conveying truth to their fellow beings.

“The best thing is that those aware of the real history of important events, should go on record to inform the countrymen the truth because such an attitude alone would be service to Pakistan and its history.”

He also cited the example of Nelson Mandela, jailed for 27 years, but kept fighting against South African apartheid; the blacks of United States shedblood, had a number of their leaders killed, but ultimately got their rights.

He said similar was the case of former East Pakistan, whose population was denied rights to rule the country. Awami League was crushed by the military.

“Pakistan was lost but a handful of generals for the sake of lust for power, preferred humiliation for their countrymen in 1971 but refused to restore the right to the majority.”

He said Bengalis fought with their blood, lost several hundred thousands lives but ultimately triumphed and today they were economically better off.

He wanted to know as to whether Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) had ever tried to demolish, much less invade minorities worship places.

In fact, the Prophet (PBUH) after conquest over infidels, announced amnesty for the opponents of Islam.

“He (PBUH) never taught the lesson of prejudice or injustice against anyone, even the worst enemy.
