HYDERABAD, Nov 29: The deputy opposition leader of the PPP in the National Assembly, Syed Naveed Qamar, has expressed concern over the situation in the country and said that the only solution is to dissolve the federal, provincial and district governments and to hold general elections under the supervision of the Supreme Court.

He was addressing the inaugural ceremony of the electrification of Goth Mohammad Hajano, Bulri Shah Karim taluka, Tando Mohammad Khan district on Tuesday.

He reiterated that his party had not entered into any deal with the Musharraf government and added that such a disinformation campaign was launched by the government to create differences among the opposition parties.

He said the Sindh Chief Minister was not the Chief Minister of the people of Sindh but of the Musharraf government.

He made it clear that without the participation of PPP Chairperson Benazir Bhutto and PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif, the forthcoming general elections will be meaningless.

He was of the opinion that the women had equal rights in the society, therefore, any protest against the passage of the Women’s Rights Protection Bill was unjustified.

AWAMI TEHRIK: The standing committee of the Awami Tehrik has condemned the allocation of funds by the Musharraf government for Bhasha, Kalabagh dam, Akhori and other dams and termed it as a frontal attack on Sindh and detrimental to the unity, integrity and solidarity of the country.

The committee, which met here on Tuesday under the chairmanship of Rasool Bux Palijo, said that Sindh was already in deep economic crisis due to acute shortage of water, the small growers had become bankrupt and one million acres of Sindh’s land had come under seawater.

It noted that now the Musharraf government had allocated funds for the construction of many dams which will totally destroy Sindh.

It resolved to stage week-long protest demonstrations throughout Sindh from December 1 to 7, to protest funds allocation.
