KARACHI, Nov 29: The Sindh High Court administrative judge for anti-terrorism courts in Karachi on Wednesday remanded two suspects in police custody till December 6 in a kidnapping-cum-murder case.
Farhan Khan, 23, and Mohammad Qasim, 18, were produced before Justice Amir Hani Muslim for obtaining their remand.
The investigation officer said the suspects kidnapped 12-year-old Awais Ali for ransom from the Landhi area on September 13 and demanded Rs50 million as ransom for his release. The family paid them Rs200, 000 but they killed the boy and his body was found in a nullah on November 28. Granting the request, the administrative judge remanded the suspects till December 6.
COPS ARREST ORDERED: In another case, meanwhile, the AJ directed an investigation officer to arrest the three policemen booked for kidnapping Imran for ransom and complete investigation within two weeks.
Head constables Tariq Altaf and Faqir Sain and constable Javed Mohammed are charged with kidnapping Imran and detaining him in the lockup of Al-Falah police station and demanding Rs 50,000 as ransom for his release.
Zarina Bibi, mother of the kidnapped boy, moved a court for release of her son and Imran was subsequently released by a judicial magistrate from the police station.
The IO of the case told the AJ that the accused could not be arrested so far and further time should be granted to complete the investigation of the case.
Justice Muslim directed the IO to arrest the culprits within seven days and submit a complete investigation report within two weeks.
