KARACHI, Nov 29: Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad on Wednesday directed all the public sector universities to prepare their master plans in accordance with Vision-2020.

The governor issued these directives when it was brought to his notice that certain universities had not taken any initiative in this regard.

Presiding over a meeting, Dr Ibad stressed the need for paying full attention to primary and secondary education system which was the real foundation of higher education and asked the authorities concerned to set up a provincial education commission. He instructed the educationist Dr SM Qureshi to prepare a feasible plan for the commission.

Major Aftab Lodhi, Project Director of Provincial Monitoring unit, informed the governor that out of 80 projects eight would be completed next month.

The governor recalled that each university in the public sector had been provided a fund of Rs 3 billion for improving facilities of teaching, research activities and other related amenities to scholars and students.

The governor noted that as against the past, now enough resources had been provided to them as such it was the responsibility of the concerned authorities to make optimum use of them.

Reviewing the ongoing projects of public sector universities in the province, he called for their early completion.
