PARIS, Nov 28: Russian President Vladimir Putin may go to Latvian capital Riga on Wednesday to celebrate French President Jacques Chirac’s 74th birthday after the NATO summit, Mr Chirac’s office said.
Latvian President Vaira Vike-Freiberga told Mr Chirac’s office that she hoped to invite other heads of state to celebrate the French president’s birthday.
“Putin expressed his wish to come meet the French president” and proposed a three-way dinner, with Mr Putin, Mr Chirac and Freiberga, after the summit ends,” Mr Chirac's office said.
That statement said the plan was still under consideration.
