PESHAWAR, Nov 27: The Jamaat-i-Islami has accused the assistant political agent of the Kohat Frontier Region of violating tribal norms and misusing official powers and announced to launch a protest campaign against him in Dara Adamkhel.
“Riaz Hussain Khattak (the assistant political agent) ordered firing on former senior minister Sirajul Haq while he was on his way back from a tribal jirga. Former MNA Haroon Rashid was arrested along with seven of his colleagues on Nov 25,” Haji Mohammad Khan Afridi, the JI Amir JI of the Dara Adamkhel, said. He was addressing a news conference here on Monday.
Haji Afridi said that such actions would not deter the JI from informing the people about what really happened in the Bajaur Agency.
“We will continue our struggle against the Frontier Crimes Regulations despite political pressures and mobilise the tribesmen against atrocities," he said.
He said that the Jamaat had never caused law and order situation in the tribal areas and that it was the political administration which disturbed the peace in Fata.
He called for the removal of the assistant political agent and said that the authorities had not informed the JI or the local tribesmen about not holding jirga in the area.
He said that if the official was not transferred and the jailed leader was not released, the party would launch protests in other parts of the tribal belt.
