KARACHI: 41 more dengue cases

KARACHI, Nov 27: Forty-one new viral haemorrhagic fever or dengue fever cases were reported in seven hospitals during the last 48 hours, ending at 2pm on Monday.

A health official of the Sindh government said the registration of dengue virus infected cases had reduced significantly with the change in weather.

In the last five months, VHF and dengue claimed the lives of 42 people admitted in different hospitals of Karachi and another four lives in the interior of Sindh.

Giving details of new patients, Dr Tajammul Baig of Dengue Fever Cell said the number of suspected cases rose to 4,226 in the province with the arrival of 41 fresh cases in city’s hospitals and two cases in the interior of Sindh during the last 48 hours.

Twenty-one new patients were admitted to Dr Ziauddin Hospital, followed by 10 at Aga Khan University Hospital and four at Civil Hospital Karachi in the last two days.

The patients’ position in different city hospitals on Monday remained as follows: AKUH-19(10 new cases), LNH-34(1), CHK-7(4), Dr Ziauddin Hospital-21(17), NICH-4(1), Abassi Shaheed Hospital-36(Zero), Baqai Hospital-5 (0), Darul Shifa-1(zero) and Kutiyana hospital-7(1).
