KARACHI: Nazim urges UK to set up varsities in Karachi

KARACHI, Nov 27: City Nazim Syed Mustafa Kamal has asked the concerned authorities of prominent universities and educational institutions of the United Kingdom to establish their campuses in Karachi with mutual coordination to help Pakistani youth to benefit from their research and modern education.

He was speaking as chief guest at the inauguration of the ‘Education UK Exhibition’ at a hotel on Monday.

More than 53 prominent UK universities have set up their stalls in the exhibition and this also follows seminars regarding admission procedures for British universities and educational institutions besides providing guidance for continuity of education in the UK.

The nazim said the system pursued by the British Council for providing information to Pakistani youth about education in the UK varsities was a welcome step. He said it would be even more useful if these varsities established their campus in Karachi so that those who could not afford to go to the UK for education could be benefited. He expressed hope that the British Council would facilitate the process and assured that the city government would provide all basic facilities and infrastructure in this regard.

Referring to the fast track development, he said many international companies and consortiums had started making investment here.—APP
