Taliban say Pakistani journalists released

KABUL, Nov 26: Taliban on Sunday said they had released two Pakistani journalists after holding them for nearly five days because they had entered a district without its permission.

The wife of one of the men, Syed Saleem Shahzad, said she was told by a colleague of her husband that the two had been released, but she had had no contact with them by evening.

Purported Taliban spokesman, Mohammad Hanif, told AFP the men were released “near the Pakistan and Afghan border”. He did not say exactly where they were.

The journalists were captured after entering the Baghran district of the southern province of Helmand without Taliban permission, Hanif said.—AFP
