KARACHI, Nov 26: Three-year-old bay filly, Safari Queen, overcame a bad patch of two dismal runs to post a facile eight lengths victory over four-time winner filly Eswarah to land Shah Mardan Shah Pir Pagara Double Birthday Cup at the Karachi Racecourse on Sunday.

Three-year-old bay colt Captain Black, who was tipped to win, was withdrawn in the morning declaration on medical grounds.

Safari Queen, who was stalled in the gate in the last two outings, took a level jump and ruled the field in a start to finish bid. Bay filly Makina finished third while chestnut Reyan King completed the frame.

Owned by Gul Mohammad Rajar and saddled by Mushtaq Ali Khan, Safari Queen was ridden home by M. Nasir who was pick of the day among jockeys with four wins. His three other winners were Mari Paidagiree in the first, Dubawi and Paidagir in the last two races.

Three-year-old bay colt Dubawi atoned to his poor run beating filly Patricia by eight lengths while bay colt Paidagir completed hat trick by getting the better of dark bay filly Stormy Kiss by one-and-a-half length.

Fancied four-year-old dark bay filly, Mari Paidagiree, backed by connection, stormed to a five lengths victory over chestnut Lucky View to win the opener.

Rider Mohammad Essa also came out with a splendid double by piloting 11-year-old chestnut gelding Easy Come Easy Go and favourite bay filly Miss Milee.

Three-year-old chestnut filly Kat Mandu with Ghulam Shabbir II astride and four-year-old chestnut colt Terrorist under M. Manzoor won the remaining two races.
