The two teams were tied at 18-hole scores of 227 each but Pakistan grabbed the trophy with better show on back-nine holes.

The J. R. Jayewardene Trophy is a regular team event between the two countries.

The Pakistan team comprised Tariq Mehmood, M. Safdar and Aadil Jehangir while Sri Lanka had the services of Mithun Perera, K. Prabagron and Chandradasa.

Meanwhile, Tariq Mehmood of Islamabad kept intact his lead in the individual event which will be decided on Sunday – the last day of the championship.

Tariq's three days aggregate score of 219 (73+70+76) again placed him ahead of other contenders in men's individual event.

He had a two stroke advantage over Sri Lanka's Mithun Perera and K. Prabagran.

Tariq faced a tough challenge on the penultimate day from Mithun Perera before the Sri Lankan sank a double bogie at the last hole to allow the Pakistani to forge ahead.
