Thierry Lincou, Gaultier to clash in final


ISLAMABAD, Nov 24: Defending champion Thierry Lincou and fellow Frenchman Gregory Gaultier defeated their Egyptian rivals to reach the final of the Pakistan Open World squash championship at Mushaf Squash Complex on Friday.

World no.3 Thierry Lincou won the first semi-final 3-1 in 36 minutes against world no.10 Karim Darwish, who pulled out in the fourth game due to fever. The score was 4-11, 11-6, 11-7, 4-1 (retired).

In the second semi-final, world no.5 Gregory Gaultier beat world no.9 Ramay Ashour 11-9, 11-3, 5-11, 5-11, 11-8.

The all-French final of the US$85,000 championship will be played on Saturday at 4pm.—APP
