‘Blast case registered at behest of govt’

By Our Staff Correspondent

QUETTA, Nov 24: Balochistan Assembly’s Deputy Speaker Mohammad Aslam Bhootani has condemned registeration of a bomb blast case against himself, the Khan of Kalat and Wazir Khan Rind, and alleged that the Dera Bugti district coordination officer had implicated them in the case at the behest of the federal government.

Talking to newsmen in Hub on Friday, Mr Bhootani said the blast at the residence of the DCO had occurred almost a year ago and the federal government was hatching a conspiracy to implicate the leaders in it.

"People of Balochistan are aware of the baseless propaganda of the federal government," he said and asked Islamabad to stop using such tactics.

He said he opposed the government’s policies when the atrocities against Balochistan had increased. He said opposing government’s policies and actions was the right of every political party and assembly member in a democratic country.

"The federal government is preparing false cases against me because I have raised voice for the rights of Balochistan," he said.

He said he would not bow to any pressure.

He demanded that ongoing military operation in Balochistan should be stopped.

In reply to a question, the deputy speaker said Balochistan Chief Minister Jam Yousuf had not been taken into confidence by the federal government about the case.

Meanwhile, the chief minister, commenting on the report, said the man involving the Khan of Kalat and Mr Bhootani in the bomb explosion was capable of doing "anything".
