SWABI, Nov 24: The NWFP government has decided to upgrade Topi to the level of tehsil, provincial Minister for Education Fazl Ali Haqqani said on Friday.

He told members of a Topi jirga that Chief Minister Akram Khan Durrani would announce upgradation of Topi during his visit to Topi on Saturday.

Mr Haqqani said that the chief minister would lay the foundation stone of a model school in Kotha, which would impart quality education to the students. He added that the chief minister would inaugurate the construction of Swabi-Jehangira road at an estimated cost of Rs470 million.

He said that the government had finalised arrangements to make Topi a tehsil and the move would help mitigate problems of the people of the Gadoon region and surrounding areas.
