BAHAWALPUR, Nov 23: The Punjab government on Thursday banned a book which had triggered protest among the university students here.
The book, Principles of Marketing, authored by two Americans and published by an Indian company. The book allegedly carried an objectionable cartoon which, according to students, was a blasphemous act by the authors. The students’ protest was conveyed to the government.
According to government circles, the book has been banned with a directive of action against those, who recommended it for MBA courses.
ACCIDENTS: Three people, including a woman, were killed and 10 injured in three accidents on Thursday.
Waqar, a bus conductor was killed and 10 passengers sustained injuries when a bus coming from Lahore rammed into a roadside tree near Chak 37/BC on Hasilpur Road in the morning.
Tanvir was killed by a speeding wagon near Ahmadpur while a woman was killed by a double-cabin pickup near Noorpur.
HANDBALL: Two matches were decided on the second day of the 19th National Handball Championship at Dring Stadium.
Pakistan Army beat Balochistan 45-4. The winner’s main scorers were Farhan (7), Zahid Tanvir (6) and Ziaullah (5).
In the second match, police defeated Punjab 29-21.
