Fire at Nadra office

LAHORE, Nov 23: Two fire incidents took place in the city owing to short circuit on Thursday with no human loss or injury.

Police said godown of a paint factory — Basfa Industries Ltd — owned by Jehangir Saleem, situated near Glaxo Town, Youhanabad, caught fire, reducing to ashes chemicals, paints and machinery worth millions of rupees.

At least 11 fire brigades of three units, Rescue 1122 and three vehicles of Edhi Ambulance rushed to the spot and extinguished the fire after three hours.

In another incident, the fire broke out at Nadra office on Abbot Road in Qila Gujjar Singh.

No human loss or injury was reported. However some counters carrying necessary records were damaged. Fire-fighters extinguished the fire in an hour.

ARRESTS: Police claimed on Thursday to have arrested six alleged members of two gangs and seized looted valuables, besides illegal weapons, from their possession.

The accused, during the preliminary interrogation, confessed to have committed 29 crimes against property.

A team, headed by the Ichhra SHO nabbed Usman alias Shani, Imran, Naveed Shah and Naveed Akhtar of Shani dacoit gang. Valuables worth Rs150,000 and illegal weapons were also recovered from them.

Another team, led by the Bhatti Gate SPO, apprehended Attiqur Rehman alias chairman and his accomplice Siddique, who were allegedly running a motorcycle-lifting gang.

The police seized four stolen motorcycles worth Rs200,000 and illegal weapons from them. —Reporter
