KARACHI, Nov 22: Brisk shipping activity was witnessed at the port where three ships carrying containers, chemicals, and diesel oil were accommodated on berths at QICT, Engro Vopak terminal and Fotco oil terminal, respectively, during the last 24 hours, says a PQA press release.
Berth occupancy remained at 80 per cent at the port where a total of eight ships occupied berths to load/unload containers, rice, cement, edible oil, diesel and chemicals, respectively, during the report period.
The port handled a cargo volume of 93,799 tons comprising 60,247 tons imports and 33,552 tons exports, inclusive of containerised cargo carried in 1,382 Teus.
Five ships were at the outer anchorage, namely MSC Aurora (container), Sealand Independence (container), Ginga Saker (chemicals), New Toyokaze (edible oil) and Nord Jupiter (seeds).
Two ships sailed out to the sea on Wednesday morning while two more ships were due to depart during the day.
Three ships--Sealand Independence, Bavaria Express and Ginga Saker are expected to take berths at the QICT, and Engro terminal on Thursday.
Three containers ship--ACX Levender, Ibn Battotah and San Clement are due to arrive at the port on Thursday.
