GUJRAT, Nov 21: A team of Gujranwala Customs Intelligence seized a Land Cruiser of MPA Amir Usman from Kotla Arab Ali Khan (PP-115) on the charge of evading duty, Dawn learnt here on Tuesday.

The MPA is a close aide of ex-adviser to CM Naeem Raza and his brother Shahid Raza, a nazim from Kotla Arab UC.

Sources said Amir Usman and his driver were intercepted by a customs intelligence team near Gujranwala. The team seized the vehicle and allowed the MPA and his driver to go by public transport.

The sources said the team showed on papers that they took the vehicle into custody from the driver. The name of the driver and number of the vehicle could not be confirmed.

They said the vehicle was owned by Shahid Raza while it was being used by MPA. They said the officials had asked the vehicle occupant to provide them its import documents within a week otherwise it would be confiscated through departmental procedure. Some days ago, Gujranwala range police had conducted a raid at the outhouses of Naeem Raza and arrested 12 POs while a hired assassin was killed. Naeem Raza did not attend the marriage function of the daughter of MNA Wajahat Husain at Nat House on Nov 18.

PROBE ORDERED: The PTCL authorities on Tuesday ordered a probe into the blast at Gujrat telephone exchange on Sunday night.

Report said building of a mini exchange having machinery of official numbers had collapsed with a big bang. As a result of which four employees Sabir, Khurshid, Nadeem and Shafiq suffered injuries and 340 official numbers were disconnected.

Civil lines police had registered a case of explosion on the report of employee Shafiq.
