KARACHI: Woman MNA concerned over bill

Published November 22, 2006

KARACHI, Nov 21: The rulers want to secularise the country in the name enlightenment and moderation, but Islam-loving people would not allow them to succeed in their designs.

This was stated by Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal MNA Samiha Raheel Qazi.Speaking at the Idara Noor-i-Haq on Tuesday, she said the Women’s Protection Bill, instead of restoring woman’s prestige, would trample her dignity and honour which would not be acceptable to them at any cost.

She said Pakistan was created in the name of Islam and its constitution was also Islamic but those who had adopted the bill had proved that they were not defenders of Islam, but protectors of the US interests.

She said the MMA had decided to resign from the National Assembly for the adoption of the bill and their decision manifested the sentiments of the people and the MMA would not bargain over the decision.
