Karachi Port operations

KARACHI, Nov 21: Six ships carrying cement, steel and containers are due to arrive at the outer anchorage on Wednesday, according to KPT sources.

No ship was berthed at any of the wharves owing to some technical factors but six ships departed after loading and unloading their cargoes.

The ships, which departed included Ever Guard, China Star, Lalazar, C. Friend, Dream and Overseas Orion, while Stolt Avenits, Conti Esperance, Iran Heasbi, Tigran Martirosyan and Sotiria are due to sail out on Wednesday.

The total tonnage handled fell to a modest level as no ship was berthed, falling to 26,257 tons, which comprised 14,818 tons of export cargo including 5,857 tons of rice and 11,439 tons of import tonnage.

The following ships are due on Wednesday: Zheng Xing, with 30,400 tons of cement, Atlantic Diamond, with steel and general cargo, Hyundai Advance, Oel Aishwarya, Corin Thaikos and Y.M. Sun with containers.

Port Qasim

KARACHI, Nov 21: Brisk shipping activity was observed at the port where five ships to load and unload containers, rice and edible oil were berthed during the last 24 hours.Meanwhile, five more ships carrying containers, chemicals and edible oil also arrived at the outer anchorage. Berth occupancy stood at 60pc as seven ships, Brianna, Xiang Wan, CSAV Ningbo, Makran, Tiwai Maru, Manayas-1 and Matina, were occupying berths to load/offload containers, rice, cement and edible oil.

A cargo volume of 46,274 tons comprising 24,004 tons of import and 22,270 tons of export tonnage was handled.

Sailings were active as. Genco Knight, Brianna and Xiang Wan left the port.
