Trace Hit wins majestically to claim Pakistan Oaks 2006

LAHORE, Nov 19: Fancied bay filly, Trace Hit, hit fame and glory by landing the Dewan Petroleum Pakistan Oaks 2006 run over 2000m during the 12th Lahore Winter Meeting at the Racecourse on Sunday.
Trained by Haji Ghulam Sarwar and piloted by jockey Shahid Rehman, the odds on favourite filly showed her power, class in an effortless way of striding seen after a long time. When she charged past by the bunch of only four runners, no one threatened from behind as she won by over eight lengths easily.
She defeated stable mate Para Game.The filly Who Dares finished third, a distance behind while Miss Photogenic completed the frame. The winner and the second placed are owned by Khawaja M. Arif. Only four ran after the last-minute withdrawal of Baker's Gal on the recommendation of the veterinary officer of the Lahore Race club (LRC) This was the sixth race in racing order meant exclusively for four- year-old fillies.
A race earlier, in the supporting event, The Zaheer-ud-Din Mohammad Babar Cup the English colt, Brummell made a good run to win the race gone over 1600m. He beat favourite Fajr by two and-a-half lengths. Lucky Winner and Sher-e-Gujrat completed the frame.
Backed at three to one and carrying ten stones ten pound in weight scales, Syed Parvaiz Hussain Shah's owned Brummell was given a gem of a ride by jockey Salah-ud-Din in a waiting style.
Dark-bay Fido Dido won the Tariq Bin Zayad Cup run over 1400m. Fido Dido capitalizing on his placing in the class IV division III handicap race beat favourite Namroud by two-and-half lengths.
Owned by Mian Maahir Ahmad, Fido Dido had finished fourth in a class IV division II race over the same distance two weeks ago under jockey M. Hanif while Shahid Rehman partnered him on Sunday that made the difference.
Ferrari and Volcano completed the board among ten runners.
Jockeys Shahid Rehman and Salah-ud-Din and, trainers Haji Ghulam Sarwar and A. B. Malik shared the day's racing honours. Shahid rode three winners, Salah-ud-Din two, Sarwar and Malik sent out two winners each.
