MQM wants women’s bill enforced

Published November 20, 2006

OKARA, Nov 19: The women protection bill should be brought to the Council of Common Interest for its implementation on all the four provinces.

This was stated by MQM leader and MNA Dr Farooq Sattar while talking to journalists at the local MQM office on Sunday.

He said the MQM had no objection if the government held dialogues with the MMA to stop them resigning from the National Assembly.

The NWFP law minister, he said, had threatened to stop the implementation of this bill in his province which indicated a conflict between the center and the province.

He described as positive sign of the understanding between the PPP and the MQM over the women protection bill.

The MQM leader said that the MMA had completely failed within and outside the parliament to prove this bill against Quran and Sunnah.
