LAHORE, Nov 19: Jamaat-i-Islami secretary-general Syed Munawwar Hasan on Sunday claimed that the Alliance for the Restoration of Democracy had practically disintegrated after the PPP joined hands with Gen Musharraf to support the Bill on Women’s Protection.

In a press statement, the JI secretary-general said those who signed the Charter of Democracy to oust Musharraf had violated their own pledge. He said the president had drawn battle lines by challenging Islamic forces in the country. The dictator is destroying the social fabric of the Pakistani society by accepting the western dictates against Islam.

He said the MMA’s decision to resign from the National Assembly in the next session had started haunting the general, who was thinking about postponing the assembly session for the next four months. —Staff Reporter
