Robbers have a field day

LAHORE, Nov 19: Armed robbers deprived households and shopkeepers of cash and other valuables worth millions of rupees in 10 different strikes in the city on Sunday.

Four armed men barged into a house (467-CC) in Defence, held the family hostage and took away cash, jewellery and other valuables worth over Rs3 million. Maj-Gen Mohsin Iqbal (retired) owns the house.

The Defence police said the loss was worth over Rs1 million.

Two motorcyclists came to a shop in Mochi Gate, held up trader Amjad Butt at pistol point and took away Rs130,000 in cash while as many robbers entered Humayun Chemicals and held Munsif Humayun and his employees hostage at gunpoint. After collecting Rs50,000 in cash and a cell phone, they escaped from the scene.

Five robbers, including a woman, stormed into Usman’s house in Islampura late Saturday and made off with Rs28,000 in cash and 100-tola gold.

Two gunmen intercepted Liaquat Ali of Piracha Colony in Shahdara Town and snatched Rs45,000 in cash and a cell phone from him while as many robbers snatched Rs11,000 in cash and a cell phone from Sohail Bari, a medical sales representative in Islampura area.

In another incident in Islampura, two robbers entered a PCO at Sanatnagar Chowk and took away cash and calling cards worth thousands of rupees besides four cell phones.

Two robbers entered Miraaj’s shop in Lorry Adda and escaped with Rs25,000 in cash and a cell phone.

KIDNAPPED: Two girls were reportedly kidnapped from Badami Bagh area here on Sunday.

Accused Shakeel and Naveed allegedly kidnapped Marina (18) of Badar Colony from her house.

The police registered a case against the kidnappers on the complaint of Fazal Hussain, the girl’s father.

In another incident, unidentified people abducted Shahzadi Rukhsana of Abu Bakar Park from her house.
