KARACHI, Nov 19: Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad Khan paid a visit to various parts of the city on Saturday evening and reviewed the steps taken about the ongoing development schemes, traffic arrangement, sanitary conditions, law and order and also met people.
During the visit he was accompanied by City Nazim Syed Mustafa Kkamal, DCO Fazlur Rehman, DIG Traffic Falak Khurshid and other officials.
In various towns, the town nazims, TMOs and town police officers told the governor about the prevailing conditions.
The governor drove through the three under-passes from SITE to Hasan Square. He also drove through the newly constructed National Stadium flyover and reviewed the work.
He had an appraisal about the ongoing works of the Kothari Parade, Bagh Ibn-i-Qasim and the shrine of Abdullah Shah Ghazi. He offered fateha at the shrine, talked to pilgrims and issued directives to the authorities for speedy completion of work.
Visiting various sections of Bagh Ibn-i-Qasim, the governor issued directives regarding improved plantation, lighting, etc. He expressed the hope that Bagh Ibn-i-Qasim, Kothari Parade, Beach Park and Abdullah Shah Ghazi’s shrine as a whole complex would prove a rare gift for the people of Pakistan.
He said the recreational facilities provided in this complex would prove attractive for foreign tourists as well and would be a source of pride for Karachiites.
Talking to people during his visit, the governor appreciated the citizens’ positive and zealous response to Women’s Rights Bill and praised them.
Dr Ibad reiterated the government’s resolve to eliminate the Kar-kari custom, feudal attitudes, domestic violence besides obsolete customs and traditions from the country.
Pointing out that the development process was going on at a fast pace, the governor said that previously the programme spread over years used to be prepared to complete flyovers and still these would remain incomplete even in double the time.—APP
