KARACHI: Potters may be sent abroad

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, Nov 18: Federal Minister for Tourism Nilofar Bakhtiar said on Saturday that the government would soon send local potters to Iran and Turkey for training.

“We have chalked out plans to send the potters who have already stirred the art critics with their imaginative work despite all the limitations to countries such as Iran and Turkey for training to enhance and enrich their work,” Ms Bakhtiar said while formally announcing an end to the three-day potters’ fair (Kumhar Mela) at the Arts Council.

The fair was part of the two-week Asna Clay Triennial which would conclude on Nov 24.

The fair attracted a significant number of art lovers, who purchased most of the pottery and Kashi work put on display and for sale.
