Snooker champion Yousuf returns amid fanfare

KARACHI, Nov 17: Snooker celebrity Mohammad Yousuf who added yet another feather to his cap by capturing World Masters’ title arrived from Amman, Jordan, on Friday to a tumultuous welcome.

Top Pakistan Billiards and Snooker Association (PBSA) officials including president Ali Asghar Valika, senior vice-president Jamil Sakrani and a few others received the veteran ceuist at the Quaid-i-Azam International Airport.

Yousuf did the country proud when he beat Australian Glen Wilkinson in a pulsating final 5-4 to land the World Masters’ crown. The competition was held simultaneously alongside the World Snooker championship.

The 13-time former National champion already has World and Asian titles under his belt.

Yousuf meets the press at Karachi Club on Saturday to elaborate on his recent success. Reigning National champion Khurram Agha and Latif Masters’ winner Naveen Perwani who featured in the World championship also returned home. The team was managed by Alamgir Shaikh.
