Policeman held for taking bribe

TOBA TEK SINGH, Nov 17: The Anti-Corruption Establishment arrested a city police sub-inspector on Friday for accepting bribe. SI Aslam had received bribe from a resident of Chak 521-GB in a criminal case a year ago. The complainant had given application against accused to Faisalabad ACE additional director who had ordered an inquiry. The ACE staff raided city police station and held the accused.

Meanwhile, the ACE high-ups have ordered probe into the charges of misappropriation of funds against Gojra eye cum general hospital medical superintendent Dr Munir Subhani on the complaint of a citizen, Abdul Aziz.

Faisalabad ACE additional director Abdul Jabbar Shaheen will reach Gojra on Nov 24 to start inquiry.

CONDEMNATION: Ulema condemned the National Assembly and the government over adoption of Women Protection Bill.

They stated in their Friday sermons that the bill adopted by the assembly was the negation of Islam and no Muslim could accept such non-Islamic laws.

IMPERSONATOR: City police registered on Friday a case against an impersonator.

Police said Javed Ramday of Chak 705 GB Kamalia introduced himself as an army major serving with National Accountability Bureau to works department contractor Haji Naseer Awan. He asked him to pay Rs200,000 and threatened him that if he did not pay the amount, he would not only blacklist him but also arrest him for using substandard material in construction work.
