NAWABSHAH: Witness in Brohi murder case turns hostile

By Our Correspondent

NAWABSHAH, Nov 17: The Rasool Bux Brohi murder case took a new turn when an eye witness in the case, Siddique Brohi, retracted from his earlier statement and submitted an affidavit in the court of the district and sessions Judge, Nawabshah, stating that he had neither been arrested nor tortured by the chief of the Lyari Task Force, Chaudhry Aslam Khan.

Siddique Brohi alias Pandhi, a cousin of the deceased Rasool Bux Brohi appeared before the district and sessions judge, Nawabshah, on Thursday and stated through an affidavit that he had been forced to become a witness in the case.

He said that he was neither arrested by the Lyari Task Force nor kidnapped or tortured by them.

He said that he was in Hub from July 10 to 15 and did not go to Karachi and was not in Gadap at the time of the encounter in which Rasool Brohi was killed.

He further stated that on August 22, police had forced him to record such an statement in the court of judicial magistrate, Sakrand , and investigation police also used the same tactics to implicate Chaudhry Aslam in the case.

He said that his cousin was wanted in many police cases and used to change his name.

He said that he was stating this before the court without any pressure.

Earlier, Siddique Brohi, while recording his statement in the court of judicial magistrate, Sakrand, had maintained that the SP of Lyari Task Force, had arrested him along with Rasool Bux Brohi, from Mir Leghari bus stop near Sakrand and made him to confess under duress that Rasool Bux was Mashooq Brohi.
