MULTAN, Nov 16: A 55-year-old woman was undressed and allegedly gang-raped as her son had been accusing of raping a girl in Alipur, Muzaffargarh. `N’ of Langalwala along with her two sons and relatives was returning to her home after condolence of death when Ghulam Shabeer, Ghulam Yaseen, Muhammad Iqbal, Mureed Husain, Fayaz Husain, Tanveer Ahmed, Ghulam Nabi, Muhammad Nasir, Haqnawaz and Ejaz Ahmed intercepted them and tore off her clothes. The accused took her to a cotton field where Fayaz, Ghulam Shabeer, Muhammad Iqbal and Ghulam Yaseen raped her. The victim’s relatives fled from the scene.

The accused managed to escape when people of the area reached the spot after two hours.

According to the accused party, her son Abdul Salam had tried to rape daughter of Ghulam Shabeer on Nov 13. The accused said they took revenge by undressing her and did not rape her.

On the other hand, victim’s husband Allah Bakhsh told the police that the girl was stealing bananas from their trees when his son caught her red-handed and admonished her.

Alipur Saddar police have registered a case and arrested five accused Muhammad Iqbal, Ghulam Yaseen, Fayaz, Tanveer Ahmed and Haqnawaz.

Investigation officer Muhammad Afzal told this correspondent that an initial medical report proved that somebody did sex with the woman, but “we would be in a position to say anything after DNA test of the accused.”
