PA demands cut in Haj fares
PESHAWAR, Nov 16: The NWFP Assembly was informed on Thursday that continuous increase in Haj fares were putting excessive burden on people making it difficult for them to perform the pilgrimage. The assembly called upon the federal government to reduce Haj fares.
The call was made in a resolution moved by Ms Rifat Jabeen and unanimously adopted by the house.
According to the resolution, the federal government `unnecessarily’ increases the Haj fares every year preventing thousands of Muslims from visiting the sacred places for Haj.
Ms Jabeen asked the federal government to take measures to ensure that Haj fares for next year are reduced.
Through another resolution, MPA Syed Zahir Shah of the People’s Party Parliamentarians urged the provincial government to establish a `Water and Sanitation Authority’ on the pattern of Punjab for improving drainage system in the city.
He said several buildings had been damaged due to water standing on various roads owing to the poor drainage system.
Local Government Minister Sardar Idrees informed that house that the CDMD had already sent findings of a feasibility study to the chief minister for setting up WASA.
The house adopted the resolution unanimously.
MPA Qalb-e-Hasan, through another resolution, demanded of the federal government to supply natural gas to various localities of Kohat city.
The resolution was adopted unanimously.—PPI
