LAHORE, Nov 15: Special check-posts equipped with computers and wireless sets will be set up at the exit points of the city for the prevention of incidents of motorcycle and car theft.

Capital City police chief additional IG Khwaja Khalid Farooq said this while presiding over a meeting of the CIA organised crime held here on Wednesday to review its performance.

He said the countrywide record of stolen and snatched vehicles would also be available at these posts. Besides, nine divisions of organised crime were being set up in the city to curb heinous crimes, he added.

He directed the anti-motorcycle and -car lifting squad to evolve a comprehensive strategy for curbing theft incidents in the city and utilise all their expertise in this regard.

The AIG claimed that establishment of check posts would yield positive results as the incidents of car and motorcycle theft would reduce substantially.

He ordered accelerating campaign against hardened criminals and keeping vigil on those released on bail.

He also ordered monitoring the activities of anti-social elements and underlined the need of updating the list of proclaimed offenders on regular basis.

CIA SP Masood Aziz told the meeting that the organised crime circle busted 126 gangs this year and arrested a large number of criminals.

He said all cases of kidnap for ransom were solved and the accused were arrested.
