Journalist dies due to doctors’ ‘negligence’
ISLAMABAD, Nov 15: Alleged negligence on part of doctors of Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (Pims) led to death of a journalist on Wednesday.
According the police, Mohammad Miskeen, a sub editor of Daily Ausaf, was brought to Pims emergency ward by his colleague as he had chest pain.
After seeing the reports of Mr Miskeen doctor pronounced him stable, however, on his repeated complaint about chest pain, he was referred to CCU ward, where he was checked by a junior doctor.
The doctor referred him back to emergency ward advising him to take some medicine as nothing was serious with him and his condition was stable. When he reached the ward he fell on the floor and died on the spot due to cardiac arrest.
Mehtab Khan, owner of Daily Ausaf, held Pims doctors responsible for the death of the sub-editor, as, he said, they could not decipher the ECG report, which, according to some senior doctors, clearly showed the patient had some cardiac problem. He said that Mr Miskeen was attended by a junior doctor and a casualty medical officer and the on-call cardiac specialist did not turn up.
The executive director of Pims Dr Fazle Hadi, apologised him on the negligence of hospital’s doctors and claimed that he would suspended the doctors. Mr Miskeen, a resident of Rawalpindi, survived by three children and a widow.—Staff Reporter
