RAWALPINDI, Nov 15: The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) foiled three attempts to smuggle heroin abroad and arrested five drug- peddlers. According to a press release, the ANF recovered 2.1kg fine quality heroin and 130 heroin-filled capsules in the three strikes.

The ANF regional directorate received information that a gang of drug smugglers would attempt to smuggle the contraband from Islamabad and T&T office Kamra Attock to China and USA.

Two ANF teams were arranged at the Islamabad International Airport which intercepted two passengers booked on Urumqi-bound flight (CZ-6008).

During initial investigation, the accused - Aamir Iqbal and Mohammad Shabbir - revealed that they were carrying heroin filled capsules in their stomach. They were admitted to Rawalpindi General Hospital where 130 capsules were retrieved.

In another operation, the ANF staff seized a parcel booked at T&T Office Kamra Attock by Asad Javed Khan for the US in the name of Sussan Katambi, and recovered 1.1kg heroin concealed in two purses.

Similarly, on a tip-off the ANF intercepted a car (IDM-5005) near Committee Chowk in Rawalpindi and seized 1kg heroin concealed in false cavities. Three persons identified as Amanullah Khan, Saifullah Khan and Fazal Akbar, all belonging to Khyber Agency, were arrested on the spot.
