Rani of Hunza dies at 94

GILGIT, Nov 15: The Rani of Hunza, Mrs Shams-un-Nahar, died after a brief illness in her palace in Karimabad in central Hunza on Wednesday. She was 94. Mrs Nahar played an active role in the Pakistan Movement.

She was daughter of the former ruler of the defunct Nagar state and mother of the Northern Areas deputy chief executive Mir Ghazanfar Ali Khan. She was buried in her ancestral graveyard in Karimabad.
