Two militants, soldier killed in Kohlu clash

By Saleem Shahid

QUETTA, Nov 13: Militants fired rockets and gunshots on security forces in Kahan area of Kohlu district on Monday, killing one soldier and injuring two others. Security forces retaliated and killed two militants.

According to officials, security forces were busy clearing the area of landmines when the militants launched the attack. A rocket hit a vehicle of security contingent resulting in the death of a soldier Mohammad Qamar, and injuries to two others.

Soon after the attack, the security forces took positions and returned the fire, killing two militants, they said.

The militants removed the bodies of their accomplices from the site, they said, adding that an intercepted wireless message confirmed the killing of two militants.

Meanwhile, a rocket was fired towards Turbat township late on Monday night, said officials.

Since the rocket landed in an open place, there was no loss of life or property, they added.

Police foiled an attempt of subversion in a village near Dera Murad Jamali, recovering two remote-controlled bombs.

"The bombs were planted in village Rafiq Magsi," said police, adding that on receipt of information, a bomb disposal squad rushed to the site, recovered the two bombs and defused them.
