KARACHI, Nov 13: Five ships carrying chemicals and containers are due to arrive at the outer anchorage on Tuesday, according to KPT sources.

Berthing activity at the wharves was maintained on the higher side where 17 vessels were berthed during the last two days as port agencies cleared the backlog of inward rush of the foreign flag vessels.

The following ships were berthed: Global Provider, vehicle carrier, Bunga Kenari, Kama Bhum, Oel Aishwarya, Kota Mesra, Corn Thaikos, Dong He, Kota Merdes and Jade-C, to unload and load containers, Pacific Jade, Shalamar, Al-Marwah, oil tanker, Intrepid, with coal, Swiftsure, with general cargo, Dream, passenger ship, and Trans Atlantic, bulk carrier.

Sailing was also fairly brisk as many vessels departed including Wan Hai-315, Maersk Arkansas, Kota Perkasa, Bunga Kenari, Lalazar, Miami, Global Union, Le Suroit, Aizu and Hai Huang Xing.

They were followed by Oel Aishwarya, Dong He, Kota Mesra, Kama Bhum, Pacific Jade, Pacific Pioneer and Alberta.

Global Provider, Wadi Al-Rayan, Al-Marwah, Swiftsure, Jade-C, Shalamar, San Jiang Kou and Coring Thaikos are due to sail out on Tuesday.

Owing to steady berthing and sailing, the total tonnage rose to 0.215m tons comprising 46,184 tons of export cargo including 2,448 tons of rice and 0.169m tons of import tonnage.

The following ships are due on Tuesday: Roseanne, with chemicals, Iran Shahryar, Global Prince, Tower Bridge and APL Dalian, with containers.
