KARACHI, Nov 12: Running a vastly improved race, three-year-old bay colt, The Arab galloped to a facile six lengths victory over favourite colt The Concord, to land Sir Ghulam Hussain Hidayatullah Cup in the Gymkhana race meeting at the Karachi Racecourse on Sunday.

With a win under his belt he surprised all and sundry winning the race in a start to finish bid to made it two-in-a-row. Owned by Syed Nadeem Anwar and saddled by Ramzan, he was ridden home by Arshad with ease in a smart time of one minute 15 3/5 sec. In the last run he clocked one minute 16 2/5 sec.

The triumph enabled seasoned rider Arshad to complete splendid treble. His earlier two winners were mare Ghabra and colt Sher Garh.

Finishing further half length behind was chestnut colt, Silent Angel and another 1 ¾ length away was Dragon Heart.

Two-year-old bay colt, Cash Flow, celebrated his maiden victory in style by posting a convincing eight lengths victory over filly, Princess Zatura, to land the Sire Produce Stakes with M. Nasir aboard.

Chestnut filly, Rebecca finished third while colt Inside Story completed the frame. Cash Flow and Inside Story are of same connection who tried the former.

Nasir also shone in the saddle ending the day with a double. His other winner was fancied Paidagir who beat Cant Catch Me by 12 lengths in the concluding event.

As predicted, favourite four-year-old bay colt, Sher Garh, lived up to his billing when he edged out Mera Jugnoo by three lengths.

Similarly, 10-year-old bay mare, Sweet Grandy, justified the prediction when she humbled favourite filly Sky Girl by one length.

Ali Ahsan presented owner Syed Ali Gohar Shah a winner when he piloted bay horse Deniro with no form worth to a five lengths victory over Tom Cruise.

Eight-year-old bay mare, Ghabra, outpaced Auzy by eight lengths to pick up spoils in the second race.

She was also tipped to win in these columns. Little Girl who was installed favourite failed to finish on the board. Earlier, chestnut Lucky View created quite a stir when he picked up the opener with M. Wasim II in the saddle. Favourite Acho Gunna installed at the gate and did not come out with the other runners.

Some riders in the second and fourth races were heavily fined for ‘unsatisfactory riding’. Riders of Little Girl, Easy Come Easy Go, Fizza, Tun Baba Tun, Piyari Mehbooba, Daruwala, and Rita were fined Rs2,000 while the rider of Guarantee was penalised Rs15,000 in the second race.

A fined of Rs5,000 were imposed on riders of Al Zarrar, Lucky Boss, Fascinate, Vital Force, Super Land, Kat Mandu, Zabil Jani, and Canon Ball in the fourth race.
