Crackdown on fireworks

GUJRANWALA, Nov 12: The district administration banned display of fireworks and firing on marriage ceremonies, while police started crackdown on fireworks factories and shops besides arresting those involved in celebration fire on Sunday.

Reports said DCO Manzer Hayat and additional IG Malik Muhammad Iqbal directed the officers concerned and DPOs to get implemented the ban and begin crackdown on fireworks factories and shops. Action had also been ordered against those involved in aerial firing on marriage ceremonies.

Following the orders, Ferozewala police reportedly raided fireworks manufacturing units at Rakh Kikeran village and arrested Riaz and Ilyas, recovering huge quantity of fireworks from their possession.

Similarly, Ghakkhar Town police, which had already booked 15 people including a groom on charge of resorting to aerial firing at a marriage ceremony, warned the public through mosque loudspeakers against indulging in fireworks display and aerial fire. The incidence of aerial fire are on the rise in and around the city now a days.
