FAISALABAD, Nov 12: The Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal on Sunday staged a protest rally to condemn the Bajaur bombing which resulted in massacring of 82 students and teachers and Durgai incident that left more than 40 people dead.
Led by Liaquat Baloch, the rally started from JI Al-Markaz, Chiniot Bazaar, and terminated at Clock Tower intersection. Participants were carrying placards inscribed with slogans against the incidents. They also offered fateha for the deceased of both the incidents.
Talking to reporters, Liaquat Baloch said the killing of people in Bajaur and Dargai had depressed the countrymen and the whole nation wanted to get rid of the present regime, which was watching the US interests.
He said the national security was at stake because of the government policies.
The American people, he said, had strongly reacted against the ill-conceived policies of the Bush administration in the mid-term elections.
He made it clear that the MMA would resign from the assemblies if the government tried to pass a bill against the teachings of Quran and Sunnah. “We will take to the street and start a protest drive against the government if our demands are not met,” he added.
The MMA leader said that the PPP had some reservations in respect of the formation of a grand alliance.
