Sikh doctors hold eye camp

By Our Correspondent

SIALKOT, Nov 12: The visiting European Sikh doctors on Sunday organised a two-day free eye camp at bordering village of Kartarpur-Narowal.

The Sikh doctors thoroughly checked scores of local poor patients and conducted about 100 eye operations free of cost, besides provision of medicines.

Talking to newsmen at Kartarpur, doctors, including Prof Amar Singh (England), Sarjeet Singh (India), Sarbajeet Singh (Malaysia), Harpal Singh (Canada), Sundar Kor, Basanat Kor (England) and Baapu Singh (Germany) hailed the government’s steps for looking after `gurdwaras’ in Pakistan.

The Sikh doctors also vowed to continue Baba Guru Nanak’s mission of charity through providing free of cost medical facilities to the people.

Meanwhile, more than 200 Sikh pilgrims from USA, the UK, Germany, India, Malaysia and Canada visited the shrine of Baba Guru Nanak in Kartarpur on Sunday and performed their rituals.

They also visited their native homes in Narowal, Shakargarh, Zafarwal and Sialkot, met some of their old friends and exchanged gifts.

Earlier, Pakistan Sikh Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee Lahore chief adviser Baba Sham Singh and other Pakistani officials and local politicians welcomed the delegation, led by UK MP Manjeet Singh, at Kartarpur.
