KARACHI, Nov 12: Jamaat-i-Islami Secretary-General Syed Munawwar Hassan has wondered that Gen Pervez Musharraf is pursuing President Bush’s policies which Americans themselves have totally rejected in the mid-term elections.
The JI leader expressed the hope that people of Pakistan would also reject Gen Musharraf and his coterie in the upcoming general elections.
Speaking at a gathering of partymen in North Karachi on Sunday, Mr Hassan said the bombing on a madressah in Bajaur Agency was a demonstration of the rulers’ loyalty to the US which had, in fact, tarnished the image of Pakistan army across the world.
He, however, warned that people of Pakistan would not allow their country to become a US colony.
“Attack on Pakistan army in Dargai was the outcome of the flawed policies pursued by Gen Musharraf,” he observed, and claimed that while sitting with Indians on the negotiating table, Gen Musharraf was working on the agenda of US India and exploiting every emerging Islamic movement in the world.
He pointed out that everywhere in the world, the forces armed with sophisticated technology were being defeated by unarmed Muslims imbibed with the spirit of Jihad.
In this context, he noted that 0.7 million Indian troops in Kashmir appeared helpless against the Muslim Kashmiris fighting for their self-rule. Just to cover up her failure and defeat, India had always resorted to the propaganda of cross border intrusion. In Iraq also, the allied forces were suffering heavy loss of life every day while on Palestinian territory, well-armed Israel was helpless against stone-throwing youths.
Syed Munawwar Hassan said the time had come for us to united launch a massive movement against the oppressive rulers of our country and hold them accountable for all their misdeeds and crimes, including mass killing in bombing on innocent countrymen.
