KHAIRPUR, Nov 11: The Khairpur Abadgars Ittehad at its meeting presided over by KAI president Shakir Shah here on Saturday condemned substandard weights and measurements used during purchase of cotton crop from growers and unavailability of computerised weighing machines at cotton ginning factories and other purchasing centres in the district.

The growers observed that neither the district administration nor the Sindh government have finalised rates and facilities for cotton growers. They said that growers in Khairpur district have staged a protest against such complaints but none of the officials have taken notice so far.

The meeting expressed concern over not setting up centres in the district from where growers can buy certified wheat seeds and said that growers have to buy seeds from agents to sow wheat crop.

They said that pesticides purchased by growers were fake and substandard during the cotton crop season, they had complained against it but the concerned authorities did not taken any action.

The meeting demanded of the district administration of Khairpur to establish an official centre for purchase of seed.

Those who spoke on the occasion include Faqir Niaz Bhambhro, Ghulam Jaffar Phulpoto and Qurban Solangi.
