KARACHI, Nov 11: Application forms for award of poverty-cum-merit scholarships 2006-07 for deserving students of class IX are available with the research section of the Board of Secondary Education Karachi (BSEK), and may be collected from the research officer, said a BSEK notification here on Saturday.

The forms may be submitted duly filled and verified by the respective head of the institution along with relevant documents latest by Dec 30.

Students seeking scholarships must have obtained at least 45 per cent marks in SSC part-I examination 2006, and the student’s father's/ guardian's income should be below Rs50,000 per annum.

An income certificate duly signed and endorsed by the head of the institution in which student is studying will have to be submitted along with the application form and attested copy of marks sheet of SSC part-I must also be enclosed.

POSTER CONTEST: The Board of Secondary Education, Karachi (BSEK) has said that Pakistan Science Foundation, Islamabad, is organising its 16th Inter Board Poster Contest 2006 for students of secondary schools.

The theme of the contest is ‘Science and Society’, size of the poster should be 20”x 30” and media poster colours be used. Heads of school are required to certify that students have prepared the posters themselves and only one poster prepared by a student be sent.

Each school is allowed to send three posters. Schools are also directed not to submit any poster directly to the foundation. All the entries should be submitted on a prescribed nomination form, which may be obtained from the BSE research officer from the research section, ground floor of the board. The entries along with posters must be submitted latest by Dec 12.

Three best posters will be selected by a committee appointed by the board for first, second and third prizes, while the selected poster will be forwarded to the Pakistan Science Foundation.

All the selected entries would become the property of the foundation. Selected posters might also be considered for prizes in the subsequent Inter-Board Contest.

In this regard, all the heads of institution are requested to encourage students of class IX and X for participating in the project. No entry will be accepted after Dec 9.—PPI
