PESHAWAR, Nov 11: Federal Minister for Political Affairs and NWFP Pakistan Muslim League President, Amir Muqam, has said that strenuous efforts have been made to ensure completion of gas projects on time.

He was presiding over a meeting here on Saturday which was attended by Zahoor Khan Khalil, Director-General, Project Monitoring, S. M. Hasnain, General-Manager, SNGPL, Peshawar, and others.

The meeting reviewed the progress on the ongoing schemes and discussed measures to speed up the work to ensure their completion within the stipulated period.

The minister expressed concern over delay in completion of gas schemes and directed the high ups of the SNGPL to provide pipes and other material for the gas supply projects in Nowshera, Swabi, Mardan, Charsadda, Shangla and Swat districts.

He directed the SNGPL authorities to undertake a survey for laying gas pipelines between Mansehra, Batagram and Besham.

The SNGPL was advised to include an inbuilt provision in the existing gas network, keeping in view the expected increase in the population of Shangla district.

The minister was informed that work on laying six-inch gas supply pipeline in southern districts of the NWFP was under way according to the schedule.—APP
