Funeral prayers offered for Dargai soldiers


MARDAN, Nov 9: Collective funeral prayers for 42 soldiers, who died in the suicide bomb attack at a military training camp in Dargai, was held on Thursday at the Punjab Regiment Centre here.

Senior officials of Pakistan army and hundreds of people attended the prayers.

The coffins of the soldiers were wrapped in the national flag.

Twenty of the soldiers belonged to Punjab, 20 to the NWFP and two to the Sindh province.

Those whose funeral prayers were held were: Amjad Mehmood of Jind tehsil in Attock district; Zahid Hussain Shah of Abbottabad; Arshad Abbas of Jhang; Asif Saeed of Jehlum; Roahul Hayat of Charsadda; Rafaqat Hussain of Kahuta tehsil; Adnan Hussain of Pahlrwan tehsil in Sargodha district; Waqas Ali of Swabi; Dilshad Ali of Bhakar; Rehamdin of Khyber Agency; Nakhuda Hussain and Lab Hussain of Shakargarh, Narowal district; Salman of Charsadda; Shakeel Ahmed of Haripur; Mohammad Akmal of Bhakar; Waqas Ali of Mansehra; Shaukat Ali of Khaar; Haji Malha of Khairpur; Simab Ali of Nowshera; Javed Iqbal of Lakki Marwat; Mushtaq Ali of Charsadda; Imtiaz Mohammad of Kohat; Amir Nawaz of Khurshab; Afghan Ahmed of Lakki Marwat; Amin Khan of Esaa Khel district; Aslam of Bara Koah; Imtiaz Ahmed of Makhdoom Pur, Khanewal; Liaquat of Mansehra; Habib Ejaz Shah of Jhang; M. Iqbal of Nowshera; Tariq of Kotabad; Kamran of Domeli Sohawa; Mian Nasir of Mian Chunno; Syed Minhas and Zaheer Abbas of Chakwal; Shoaib of Rawalpindi; Mohammad Shafiq of Mansehra; and Mobeen Hussain of Toba Teak Singh.After the prayers the bodies were handed over to their relatives who took them to their respective villages and cities for burial.—Online
